Well, not really much in terms of damage, thankfully. Hurricain Irene really only blew around lots of branches. It did bend a big tree in the front yard, cut the power (still down after two days), and cut a big branch (seen here). Others in the area got worse though. It was a bad storm but not as bad as Gloria (here on Long Island at least)

Long Islanders are preparing for Hurricane Irene. As locals prepare for the storm named after a one legged Asian child, a greater, more long term issue has arisen; the bragging rights of the people who actually stay on Long Island longer than the summer.

It's a quiet day on the streets of Suffolk County. Some people are still scared to come out of their homes after the Great Quake of 8/23/11 did as much as knock over 3 lawn chairs at these coveted, but rather tiny, I'm sorry, "quaint" properties. Others have stepped out though, out of pure will power. The need to pick up their "supermarket slip" disability checks early, allowed them to quell the fears of seeing their slightly altered lawns. One would think, that at 11:00am on a weekday, this normal local ritual would keep the streets busy, like any other morning here during the rest of the country's office hours. The lack of Walmart-savvy patrons on the streets is now said to be attributed to the quick exodus of the super rich and rarely-local celebrities.

As is tradition here on Long Island, the super rich and celebrities make two week trips from their main homes in California or on tropical islands... to the Hamptons. In light of the impeding hurricane, those trips have been cut short to just a week and a half. Shrines and mass prayer groups have gathered outside of a few homes here in South Hampton. You can see those without jobs or purposes standing in awe in front of the large, guarded gates of known celebrities, homes that are now vacant early. People who managed to get here in the morning are gaining some attention since they apparently seen the G6 private jets leave hours ago.

The consensus here is of worry and confusion. "How could they leave so early?" shouted somebody here. "I was going to actually stand 100 feet next to P-Diddy this weekend at the club." cried another. The local government has their own reasons to worry about this sudden exiting of celebrities. Supposedly much of the economy here comes from these brief visits by celebrities and they feel that this year's shrines and prayers might not bring them back again after the hurricane will devalue these once magnificent extra homes of the rich and famous.

We interviewed Karen Steinberg, a local realtor for her thoughts on this:

"I'm currently selling a few homes in western, central Suffolk. As you know, our main selling point for the $300,000 garages out there is written all over our ads." She takes out her iPad, which she couldn't stop talking about for 30 minutes before the interview, and proceeded to read allowed, and maybe a little too loud, the verbaige on her Realty webpage "'Yes, you are spending this much for mediocrity, but remember, on Long Island you can spend $2000 at a club to be less than a block away from a celebrity.'".

"How am I to sell a home worth only $80,000 for $300,000 when there are no celebrities here to justify it?" she then continued. "I might have to do the unthinkable, sell them for $250,000."

Our news crew then picked out Tony Vincent Lombardi, representing the local PBA union and their 100 members who came out here to one of the homes of Paris Hilton.

"I'm 35 and been off the force since I was 25. My pension helps me hire Mexicans to do my lawn during the week while I watch reruns of the Sopranos and go on dates with my mother during my wife's teaching hours. My bros on the force, as well as my wife's union need these celebrities. Without them, how can we justify our $80,000 pensions and tenure every year. Our motto every year is the tried true statement of Long Island, 'Yes, you are spending this much for mediocrity, but remember, on Long Island you can spend $2000 at a club to be less than a block away from a celebrity.' I fear property taxes might stop going up or even worse, go down in price. I'll then be forced to actually mow my own lawn."

Nerves are tense here as Hurricane Irene inches closer. Will the celebrities return in light of this? Will the cost of living have to go down as a result of this work of nature? Like those standing in these crowds here, all we can is just make shrines out of celebrity-signed memorabilia and pray they return, to keep the way of life here the same, year after year.

Good Morning America: Poking us in the Anime Eyes

Yesterday I was saw something I thought at first was great, anime referenced and shown on Good Morning America. Of course that quickly turned to anger as GMA went on a pointless tirade on how circle lenses are dangerous and how this was all started by anime and Lady Gaga. The whole thing smelled of the typical mainstream negative news bashing and scapegoating of things that are completely foreign to the mainstream and that of the brain-dead teleprompted news anchors reporting it.

Watching that news report gave me the same feeling you get when your parents drop in on you on facebook and they start complaining about the popups they clicked on after being on the internet for a total of 10 minutes in their life time. GMA was completely ignorant and clueless in what they were talking about. They even tried to point fingers at the famous otaku makeup artist and Lancome spokes person, Michelle Phan.

Now if Good Morning America would get off the backs of their advertisers, probably including 1-800 Contacts and contact lens companies that are scared by the growing trend of custom contacts; they'd give out the full picture that yes, circle lenses can ruin your eyes...but the same risk goes for EVERY contact lens! How much of the "breathing" contact lenses thrown at us in ABC commercials are FDA approved?! Don't get me started on all the prescription drug commercials with products that will have of a 90% chance of killing you in many various and colorful ways just to alleviate the sniffles 100% of people get from being outside in the middle of a flower field in the height of summer. This on a so-called "drug free" channel of course.

Know your facts and my fellow anime fans, do have caution when using those very expensive custom contact lenses. Make sure an actual eye doctor (not a scripted news broadcast one) checks if you have the eyes that can handle contact lenses, because if you can't wear circle lenses, drop the iPhone if you are about to call 1-800-Contacts since those will make you go as blind as a bat.

Wii Classic Controller Pro

Hijacking this bit of news from the people over at Engadget. Just when you thought the Nintendo Wii couldn't have enough controllers, both 1st and 3rd party, Nintendo throws another one at us. that's right, you are looking at a "pro" version of the Classic controller. The extra shoulder controllers and the larger size of it is what designates it as a "pro" model.
I'll be honest, I think it's pretty cool to have if you are like me, somebody who doesn't have the original Classic controller, who enjoys buying the classic games and who in a sense collects video game merchandise. If you are not in that category, chances are the controller will be like many of the other Wii peripherals, bought by many, played by few.

AT&T's Weird (New) Network Flaw

Just when you thought AT&T's fast (to drop your call) 3G service wasn't buggy enough or if you live in New York city and were denied your purchase of the iPhone due to AT&T STILL not ready for iPhones 3 years later...you are going to love this little bug. AP News & Yahoo are reporting that a new bug caused people to sign into other people's accounts via their cell phone. No, they weren't trying to hack into somebody's twitter account and post another pathetic "DO NOT PAY for White Teeth!" tweet, they were simply trying to access their facebook account but instead found themselves on somebody else's account. AT&T's 3G network...so "fast" it'll even knock you into somebody else's account (after 20 minutes of load time of course)

Chuck Thwarts Terrorists

Yesterday I fought terrorism. I'm not lying at all. With the power of the internet, I thwarted a terrorist training program.

What I did wasn't hard and unlike what the Secretary of Homeland Security said, it WAS a silver bullet. After I left some colorful comments for the terrorist scum, I flagged the video and "poof"...the video was gone as well as the entire account!

What I proved was that although there is an evil side to the internet, the good side is there too. If we all just do our part on the internet to hack these guys and thwart their network..we can all disable them.

Am I scared of these people..not at all, thus why I openly admit to disabling their videos. I'm a New Yorker who was a senor in high school during 9/11. Being on Long Island where 600 people from here died that day, the scene at my school was horrific. Many of my friends called their parents on their cell and never got a return call, ever again. If the army won't stop them, I'll gladly do my part to end them -_-

Ok, I'm a bit late on this but after almost a week, we are still digging out of the snow that smashed through the Long Island area. My town in particular (Selden) was hit the hardest of anywhere in the country from this thing on Sunday. We got the record 26.3 inches of snow!

In my 26 years of being on Long Island, I've only seen this kind of snow fall 2 times and NEVER before Christmas. On Sunday we shoveled for 6 hours...just as a start and as we continue with our lives, we keep digging through the stuff to make way for what we need to do.

What was even more amazing about this storm, was that the snow was very localized. In other words, parts of the island only got about 13 inches of snow while we got double that amount. Normally we get the rain mix or low snow fall here while the inland parts of the tri-state area get the brunt of these things but we claim the prize here for the most snow from this thing in the country.

Programming for years now has been using the OOD (Object Oriented Design) workflow and with that comes the ability to use what was made in the past as a template and then build on that. My time in college back between 2002 and 2005 was sadly wasted on what was, even then, old ways to code Java, Javascript and all the other computer languges. But hey, you got to learn about what composes the wheel although the industry is at the time making cars...right?

Ah the folly of the Universities...anyways, a few days ago I was introduced to jQuery by a post done by one of my favorite bloggers, Danny Choo.

jQuery seems to be the child of OOD and truncates javascript into smaller, better to manipulate bits.

With that said, time to get going on this as well, with Android on the plate too ^^;; Any jQuery tools I either make or find out, I'll be sure to post here or on my other sites. For now, check out Danny Choo's Photo Annotation feature in the link above.

Adobe Flash Professional CS5 beta ...Denied!

Got a message from Adobe today about the sad news that they will not be doing their originally planned public beta for Flash Professional CS5. This is understandably due to the popularity of CS5 and that is because of CS5's ability to convert your actionScript Flash project into an iPhone app.

Here's the message they sent out to all who applied to all those who wanted to be a part of the beta:

"Please take note of this important update: Adobe will not be releasing a public beta of Adobe Flash Professional CS5 software. This is a change from the plan we announced in October at Adobe MAX 2009. New Site Design

Been waaaaay too long since my last post here. That now has changed and I even redid the whole darn site. Hope you all like it. This blog is for me to post stuff not (always) related to anime and videogames as well so I'll be hopefully getting back in touch with current events and the needed venting of many different issues.

The banner might change as I'm getting a photo shoot done soon but up there is of course that common model shot of me ^^;; as well as my art and my fiancee Danielle too ^^

E-Commerce Tax

Ok, so the economy has been doing bad. We can go on for hours on the causes, the culprits and the results of many of the actions taken. One action trying to be done will automatically prevent new jobs, destroy thousands of current ones and cause any type of recovery we see now to go out the window. It's a law that would force you to pay sales tax on say anime figures you buy outside your own state.

I'm talking about the tired case of Quill vs. North Dakota, aka the e-commerce tax, or the "amazon tax." Looks as if two moronic politicians, Senator Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) and Representative Bill Delahunt (D-Mass.) want to try to unconstitutionally break a Supreme Court ruling that clearly states that you only pay sales tax if the business you purchase from is in the state you reside. I've already made my point clear and as of today, the great editors and staff at BusinessWeek.com put my comment on the front page for today.

Many Internet businesses have grown despite what the economy has thrown at them. My anime business has grown steadily as well despite me starting it in late 2006 and throughout this whole recession, my customer service has been creating a thriving company that hopefully soon I can create jobs with. New York already broke the laws of the land by having it where you have to pay the already inflated New York sales tax even if you don't live in NY!!

Because many rich scammers out there can't run their hedge funds anymore, the states are strapping for cash they once had from these legal Ponzi Schemes and that means your anime items, not just from me, but from every anime business or all products from all e-commerce businesses will cost more for you. Instead of doing the right thing, many states want to steal money from the average citizen by imposing this tax. Granted a very small universal tax should be a solution to accommodate the state's need and ours but...we all know that won't happen either because of states like New York who can't balance their budget even in an utopian society.

I know I'm sounding much like Code Geass's Lelouche but fighting this is a must for anyone who wants to see the economy continue to recover from such idiotic actions. Call your state representative or aid ebay.com and overstock.com in their fight against this. You can also add to the discussion on BusinessWeek.com along with me. Despite what naysayers think, many e-commerce sites, including my own already pay enough taxes to our state government. I cringe every time I have to impose the Suffolk County 8.625% sales tax on anime figures bought by my fellow New Yorkers. An besides, if my company grows and I add more employees, income tax comes into play and that's where the money should come from! Its a crime to begin with and there is no way this crime should be allowed to expand.

An Otaku on BusinessWeek

For the second time I once again grace the front page of BusinessWeek's website. This time, instead of poking fun at Secretary of Treasury Paulson, I got my own article up there. The article might not be anything of use for my fellow anime fans but in it I talk about how email is the number one form of communication between me and my customers, which is usually fellow otaku. Business has been getting rather busy but even so, I'm not answering phone calls like a maniac as seen in my day-job or in many other businesses. Granted, the anime fan demographic is that of people who are in this century and who would use email instead of a phone to answer simple questions.

Basically, we all know jobs could and should be kept here in the US (for those of us living in the US). I know many people, anime fans or not would love job opportunities to open up if major companies just keep their international staff internationally. Anyways, check up on the article if you'd like.

True Love Is Real

An interesting study came from my former college of Stony Brook University and was posted on CNN today. Looks like true love, or love that lasts a life time does indeed exist. Problem is only 10% of couples have it. My opinion is that the ego of the couple tends to fade the love fast and why you see so many people leaving their loved ones.
I most definitely fit in that 10%. Been dating my now fiancee Danielle for over 6 years and I love her more each day. I feel sorry for those who can't keep the love going. The secret is not that secret...just love the person you're with more than anyone else out there. That person should be your number 1 priority. Learn to get over any dislikes in habits and such. Both people in a couple should be able to like everything about the one they love and both should learn to submit any ego issues they have.

For all those losers in my senior year back in 2002 who tried to challenge this with me and Danielle....read it and weep. Most of those people who were a thorn in my side then I only knew from my senior year and like many in the town of Selden are living soooo sad lives., not my long time friends though. Still buds with them in Facebook and myspace (which wasn't around at the time) and also prove that a life of both submission and independence is actually the way to live and love.

...and that's my random 2 cents for the day ^_^.

Economic Solution

Submitted this to Business Week as a solution to the economic issues the US faces. I'll admit, my anime business is doing just fine in this economy, even with a much stronger yen so I'm not really feeling what everyone else is crying about. Yet, the economy needs help and it sure as hell doesn't involve what has been done; feeding the rich morons who started this mess in the first place. Here's what I suggested:

"If you think of the economy as a plant, its roots have been shortened and its sunlight has been taken away by the economies of India and China, excessive credit lifestyles fronted by the financial and educational system and the obviously pointless raise in home prices over the past 10 years. Thus, causing a dying "plant". Granted, parts of the economy are still growing and much of this is panic but there is a lot of work to be done. All the government has done is water the top of this "plant" by feeding the financial industry in hopes it will all trickle down. An obvious fail since all the banks have done is profit from the money and buy out their dying competitors (like my bank, WaMu, being bought out by Chase ).

Though I feel the basic fundamentals of capitalism is lost by ANY bailout, the bailouts will and have happened. Thus, to fix this mess with a bailout we must fix from the bottom, up.

Instead of giving the money directly to the banks, the people in foreclosure should be given the money to keep their homes for at least one year but as a lesson learned in the needless housing price increase and terrible credit lifestyle, the value of their homes and all homes should be then dropped back to their real values. For example, a home here on Long Island went for $90K in 1998, it now costs $300K. Chances are the current owners bought it for about $300K and are risking foreclosure. The value of their home and homes in the area should be then dropped back to say $100K but they can still live in it. No more should they be allowed to refinance, a price to pay to keep their homes. T he money given to this group obviously goes back to the banks since that's who the money is owed to, thus ending the financial industry's complaints about not getting their money. This also restarts the dead residential real-estate industry since the average income should be able to now afford the average house with at least some sort of decent down payment.

Like any extra income that comes to any company, it gets taxed. This should be the same for banks and the financial industry. They should be taxed heavily on this "extra money" if they do nothing with it. The same would go for me if my company's profits increased. If the extra cash flow is simply held by the banks and not put into loans for businesses, payrolls, new home owner loans and new industries, then most if it needs to go right back to the government to use for Health Care and local government infrastructure. The same tax burden should come down to companies that continue to outsource, manage horribly and those who give their execs far too much bonuses. Those bonuses along with dividends should be taxed more. This allows the money to boomerang back to government to lessen the burden on the value of the US dollar and the overall taxpayer burden.

There should be one more, slightly bigger stimulus package like we had. The average person who qualified for the first one should be given on average of $500 a person (instead of the $300 of the first one). This will give a boost to all areas but like with the money given to those in foreclosure and then the banks, if it's not used for any growth by the receiving people or businesses, it should be taxed more.

One other area that needs to be taxed heavily is the college education system. Most people are forced into a debt lifestyle that starts with a college education that as of lately doesn't return its overpriced value. College is needed of course but tuition needs to be dropped across the board and the truth that you can make money with and without college should be more common knowledge. Heads of college administrations who have been living very fine off the overpriced and underachieving education should see their days in heaven come to a stop by being taxed for their extremely hurtful wealth.

Last but not least is indeed more spending in the green industry movement. America needs to be the forefront of invention and innovation and we are sitting on a gold mine that just needs to be dug. Industries heavily outsourced need to be heavily taxed and if they join in with new green companies in keeping workers here, keeping innovations here and the re-installment of quality in US products, then the economy will flourish and they should then be rewarded with tax breaks, the incentive that got them outsourcing in the first place. The national debt should then be tackled. Once that is done, the US dollar should be backed by gold again and the FED should be abolished with all the banks and companies given their own chance to succeed or fail without the strings of the hard working American citizen attached.

In short, the solution is to feed the economy from the bottom up and those at the top who do not utilize the help given should be taxed to make sure the ends justify the means and all areas benefit. Trickle-down economics has been long dead and in a world where one's say and presence is more available in the age of the Internet, more can be done if the average person is given the torch and not the wealthy who have obviously tried to set the whole place on fire. "

There is more that could be said and can be done to fix the economy, but most of us can agree the actions done thus far is just the rich covering their own asses. I'm someone with a good chance of being rich with all that's on my plate at the moment but I know I wouldn't mind giving a bit more back to the average income earner since it is the average consumer who fuels my business in the first place! Other companies and the rich should realize that if the average middle class consumer goes, so too does their businesses and their wealth. The economy only works if all the cogs in the system are working.

College Education Gets an "F"

Not much of a surprise to many, all colleges in 49 out of all 50 states got a big "F" for lack of affordability. The only state to pass was California with a pathetic C-. One of the cogs in the current financial/economic meltdown is indeed the ridiculously priced college education. There is a serious problem when the cost of "higher-education" is practically a mortgage without a house. My previous posts about college shows that I'm not too fond of the terrible ROI and over-exaggeration of college's importance in our society but there is many good that a college education can do. That potential is completely shattered by the same greed that realtors and banks had over the past decade in which has absolutely decimated our economy. The blatant theft done by the housing and financial industry has only crept up over the past 30 years and of course rushed on up in the past 5 years; but college education's thievery has been in a constant grow for over 80 years.

Many news stations have been reporting this and there are many numbers that are going around but this can be certain; the pricing of homes, oil, electricity and college education MUST drop to accommodate the average working salary or no amount of bailouts will be enough to fix the economy because the cause of it, seen right here is just simply pampered by bailouts.

Obama to Cancel Bush's Stem Cell Ban

In yet another batch of great news to come from the recent election win of Barack Obama, it appears that Bush's old ban on stem cell research will finally be lifted. More on it from CNN here.

This will of course upset the very white, very conservative and very angry part of this country that for all too long has had their cultist say in things. I hate to come back from my lack of blog posts with such a bashing but it had to be said. The conservative part of this country are just the western equivalent to the extremeist islamic terrorists of the mid-east, but mind you, like anywhere else, it's not the whole group of people.

Listen, I'm not for abortion and really neither are the scientific groups involved in stem-cell research but we have to grow up as a nation and see a blessing in science when its right there in front of us. The cure for cancer and many other illnesses is staring us in the face but because of dark-ages old thought, it has been prevented. Abortion is wrong in my opinion if the sex that lead to the conception was a mutual agreement, if the pregnancy is far too late in progression, or if the pregnancy doesn't endanger the mother. I'll leave it at that and hopefully the amount of hate mail below won't be so much, but what can I do; there are still people in this modern age who believe in talking snakes, who are stubborn as mules, and who will cut their nose off despite their face. Remember, umbilical cords also have stem cells and if we don't act quickly in this research, many more people will be living needlessly short lives because some 2000+ year old cult wanted them to supposedly meet their maker sooner then later.

New Bailout Plan Passes

Looks like as of a few minutes ago, the House of Representatives passed the new, revised $700 Billion bailout plan 263-171. Though much better than the ridiculous plan proposed by Paulson and Bush, still I bet some people will be questioning if this will be a plan for them or just the 1% of the country that has more than $100,000 in the bank. I listened in to the hearing and I was glad to hear the house actually bashing Wall Street CEOs for their obvious mess ups (lets not forget the greedy Realtors who bumped up house prices beyond anyone's reach). I didn't get to read the entire new bill that I believe can be read at house.gov but stuff like pushing for more money into green businesses for new jobs, the hope of credit flow to small and private businesses (not just the idiots on Wall Street), tax breaks for business owners who keep jobs here, tax breaks for many homeowners, and renegotiations for homeowners in trouble seem to be what is needed. Thankfully they claimed that this will erase those CEO "golden parachutes" but we'll see about that in the coming months. The FDIC limit increase I feel is not really necessary since again, only 1% of Americans even reach the old $100,000 mark in the bank, but at least the horrible bottle-feeding, trickle down economics plans of Bush and Paulson was somewhat stopped. This maybe shows that this country is not a communist/socialist country as of yet but it sure is coming close to with the minority rich still having too much of a say over everyone else. I'll admit I got a bit of worries about this but I was about to pack my bags for Japan if the first bill passed. If McCain comes into office or if Obama blows it...I'll have to rethink that plan again.

Looks like my comments about the US economy got me on the front page of businessweek.com! My anime business and my old health business got me to realize different sides of the financial spectrum and as some of you know, many of us (including myself) were furious about that now failed Paulson $700 bailout plan that was going give the crooks who stole from the US the money back. I know this isn't really otaku related but I would assume that man of you can't avoid the news on it so I''m extra happy to see that my comments got me to the front page of the biggest business site on the web. You have to be living under a rock to not know that the US economy is in the crapper. Caused by the nepotism between Wall Street and the government, greedy Real Estate agents and loan sharks and an overpriced and overrated college system that teaches everyone to be worthless 9-5 cubical-slaves, this economy was just a house of cards that was ready to fall. All isn't doom and gloom though; one of my anime wholesalers, Diamond Comics did a report on the increase in sales anime and collectible goods and the turnout at the New York Anime Festival 2008 sure doesn't show signs of a recession there. Thankfully the internet has given all of us a voice and I'm very humbled and honored that I'm featured on the front page of one of the biggest business sites in the world. I of course commented about the incompetence of Treasury Secretary Paulson. Here's my entire comment:

"Secretary of Treasury Paulson was the CEO of Goldman Sachs, turned the company's $30 Billion debt into $100 Billion. The guy is not even qualified to count your cash as a teller at any bank let alone come up with anything that deals with money or in this case, have the US taxpayers write him a blank check. The guy hardly qualifies enough to flip burgers since there would need to be someone there to make sure he doesn't miscount the orders!"

Holy frecken ass-crackers! For some of you that were wondering... yes this blog was down for exactly one week. Why, should you ask? Because Blogger goofed up last Friday. There has been so much news going on and I've been sitting like a middle-class person at the recent financial hearings. So glad to be back. I was sick last weekend with the flu and my webhost kicks the bucket the same time blogger got clogged yet they denied that they didn't work for one week. Monsters Everywhere in the News: Bigfoot Found, Montauk Monster, Chupacabra Chase

Some of you might have heard of all the weird things that recently been going on in the past few weeks. At the end of July there was the now famous Montauk Monster that washed ashore only an hour away from my home over in Montauk, Long Island. View my other blog post on it if you dare to keep reading on this raccoon/pig/turtle/WTF is it?

Now, just two days ago a Texas deputy catches video of what appears to be the Chupacabra. History channel's Monster Quest recently had a report on the creature with actual bodies that have been kept and tested on so its only a matter of time before this once legendary creature becomes a part of the real list of animals. If that's not all, as of two days ago apparently two hunters in Georgia found a dead body of Big Foot and they have it in a freezer. To hopefully calm the scepticism I also have, there is going to be a news conference tomorrow apparently on this whole this so maybe this is actually legit. Alleged picture below:

With the Internet age well embedded in our culture and daily lives, information and technology has brought things to a point where we could finally solve these riddles but it also means if any of this is to be real, much more has to be done to prove to us because the Internet has made it so easy for hoaxes to be done and spread.

BusinessWeek and My Anime Business

Looks like things are starting to finally pay off in my anime business. As of a few days ago I finally got the capital needed to put the nails on my job's coffin. Chuck's Anime Shrine matched 2007's gross sales in late April and early May, and with a goal of $10,000/week sales in the next few weeks, 2008's numbers will be looking very nice with 2009's profits all the more sweeter. A recent deal with Japanese manufacturer, Milestone is going to upgrade the business from anime retailer to anime wholesaler and even BusinessWeek wants to get an idea on what I'm doing with a future excerpt from me and a little featured deal. If it wasn't for my involvement in Amway, I would have never thought of diversifying myself, getting free from my job and being truly happy. As I'm hammering the nails to the coffin that holds my college-degree job, I'll probably return to more involvement in Amway since, lets face it, royalty income is the way to go and no MLM is better for it.

Hope that adds some lemon juice and salt in the wounds the naysayers of Amway got from their boss whipping them for being 1 minute late to their job.

Congrats to Cathy Cross for becoming an IBO ^_^

Ok, most people know me as the anime loving otaku who was part of the Anime Music Video movement a few years back that lead to all those crazy AMVs you see on youtube. As of last year some people will also note that I turned my high school anime fandom into a anime figure business that will have me completely out of the job world by next month or before my 25th birthday in November. I will also make sure everyone knows that I'm a proud Amway/Quixtar IBO. Most of my 2-3 year time off on my anime site is thanks to my involvement in Amway. It can also be thanks to the stupid job I had at Friendly's Ice Cream here in Selden, NY... that also made me realize that I was feeding the mentally challenged. Now I simply work for one at my college-degree job of at a certain camera store as the website bitch..I mean co-webmaster. A Flash series is oh so needed to depict the utter stupidity of the common folk in this area and my current boss at BB.

After working with people in my job and in Amway I've come to the conclusion that many many people are simply tools to society. We are forced to believe that a college education is the key to the finacial and overall success in life. Check out my previous posts, the most successful people in the world, the successful youtube generation entrepreneurs like myself and plain old common sense and you'll see that's a bunch of smoke and mirrors. The reality is that many people end up working for the rest of their life for a few jobs they don't want to be in. They will rush to work and cause car accidents and needless traffic congestion because their boss will practically ass-rape them if they arrive at 9:01.

Today's society and economy can be depicted like lemmings falling off the cliff because the other ones did ahead of them did, too. The lemmings being society and the ones ahead of them being their parents before them. Otaku and the youtube generation has seen enough of our parents fall victim to common stupidity as you can easily see across the net. People who have put down Amway, Mary-Kay, anime, the internet and the like are going to be extinct in the next 20 years as the youth of America and the world today realizes they've been duped to be nothing but my oh so favorite coined-by-me word, cubical-slaves.
Oh, and don't be surprised if you find me at Comic-Con, the Tokyo Game show, on the G4 network and other famous otaku places in the world drinking my XS Energy drinks and eating an Amway meal bar. Being an entrepreneur in my companies proves I'm no fool and nobody's tool and I would probably be right if most of my otaku friends also agree with that, too.

What's Your Cubical Like?

On a number of occasions I will point out that a job is equal to "cubical-slavery" but whether you plan on leaving it like I am or living in it your whole life, its the place you are at the most so why not make it look cool. CNN did this awesome article on some nice cubicals. The picture shown there is very interesting but a bit small so here you can see another nice cubical design from LifeAfterCoffee. I would show mine but I emptied it since it'll soon be vacant. Just simple papers and tasks there now. If you got a cool cubical post a link to its picture in the comments section.

My iPhone 3G Waiting Time

Yesterday before going out to see the amazing Dark Knight Movie I went to go buy a 3G iPhone but with no luck since every place here on Long Island was completely sold out. Its not much of a surprise because of how hot the item is and being a store owner myself I completely understand running out of a hot item. Yet, the wait times for the 3G here is about 20 business days from time of purchase! I thought Apple was making enough 3Gs to accommodate the obvious huge surge in sales...which I think they did but the retail stores sure didn't note it from the looks of it. Luckily I did get to test it out a bit as a demo and my anime site came up pretty fast indeed. I simply love the apps and might join in the apple dev group to make my own. Other than not having one yet, I've seen no issues with the 3G. Any issues on your end? (if any of you do indeed read this)

BTW for CAS (Chuck's Anime Shrine) I will make a mobile version for iPhones and other phones.

College and Its Credit Bedfellows

I know, yet another post about college but I simply had to put this out. Looks like the country's financial issue stems alot more into the whole University-to-Cubical-Slave dogma then even I thought. Check out this article just posted by BusinessWeek. In it they show that colleges and alumni associations get paid HUGE money by banks if the they sell student contact info to them for of course credit card applications and student loans. It continues to amaze me how we continue to throw our kids (and our wallets) into universities like sheep to the slaughter (as seen in the articles lovely pics shown here).
As stated in my previous post about how worthless a college education is now and the sort-of hidden motives by colleges; this article just shows that this country's lack of money stems right at that focal point. $400K homes and the ever raise in the cost of living wouldn't have fallen to this economic depression we are in if people were taught the truth that the best point of wealth is not to rot in a cubical of a job (jackass of boss) all their life but instead be their own boss down the road with a job as a buffer. I did post a length comment on this story under the name Chuck G. of course, so if you want to add on to this here or on BusinessWeek...be my guest. Church Banning Angels and Demons, An Effort to Hide Their Demons

In yet another unsurprising move by the highly out of date Church; the Vatican prevented filming of the real Bernini statue they needed for the "Angels and Demons" movie. Of course, like the DaVinchi Code movie expect more unintelligent and irrelevant banning. Already churches across the globe are doing what they can to stop their brainwashed sheep from evolving into free-thought human beings by downplaying and degrading this work of art and need I remind them...fictional story! I read all of the Dan Brown books and I was raised a Catholic for god's sake, so forgive my strong message here, but this needs to be said!

To not give away much of the story, the concept mentioned in "Angels and Demons" revolves around a murdered scientist who discovers the secrets to matter and antimatter, hence the notion of angels and demons. As with the DaVinchi Code, much of the side information revolving around the fictional story is true. For example, recently CERN (the real life scientific establishment mentioned in the book) just created a brand new partical accelerator to hopefully fit together the Unified Theory of Matter. Scientist there as I write this are studying exactly what is in the book. The scientist mentioned in the story, need I also mention, was a highly religious individual and by using science his discovered that ::gasp:: the bible's mention of creation of something from nothing might actually be true to some degree. Of course, you can't get such facts through the head of over-religious bigots even though such information might actually aid in their undermining goal of world domination.
Since the church is both used to slowing the progress of society and are also pissed their minions aren't as naive as they used to be (in the dark ages) they will continue to bash this story and the movie, thus at least piss off common-sensical individuals like myself and millions upon millions of others. Too bad for them they can't kill people for their free thought (because that is just the most holy thing you can do) as they used to. Just like the radical and terrorist Islamics, radical Christians will soon be extinct as society draws further and further away from fairy tales and assumptions that they know know are just there to make humanity think in unison.

A message to all organized religions:
Just be places of worship and moral fiber like you are meant to be! This means actually abiding by the morals of being good to others as you so many times state but historically never do! If you run your worship with this in mind, you will never have the need to force your religion on others since they will be attracted to you. If what you have to offer really isn't for humanity then watch it fall into the pages of history as a misguided fad.

I Defeated The iftuyszv.exe Malware!

As of today I was able to complete a two day battle against this new and powerful Malware bug. The main program that spawned a load of problems on my work computer is the ituyszy.exe malware. It's only been reported to be around this month. This thing was a killer; not anymore!

This blog post hopefully might help you if you are dealing with this crazy computer virus.

Here's a list of what it did:

Slowed down my computer (that's easy)
Spawned bogus Windows Command Center messages
Spawned Bogus Windows Toolbar messages about supposed current Spyware in the computer...
..all to get you to buy bogus Spyware, Adware software on a fake site that pops up over and over again on Internet Explorer.
Deleted my background image with a bogus linked image to its stupid site.
Disabled my task manager!
Deleted all System Restore Points, except when it was installed!
Prevented a hard delete of it via DOS.

After at least a day or so of scans, debugs and other failed attempts to delete it....

Here's a list of what I did to stop it:

Put the computer into Safe Mode; since the malware slowed the whole system and this speeds things up a bit.
downloaded Spybot - Search & Destroy w/ the latest libraries.
Used Spybot's "Immunity" function to slow the progression of the malware.
Ran the Spybot search which is 100x faster than the other garbage that I downloaded that wanted you to pay for their slow programs.
Did their "fix problems" function to correct the problems caught.
While it was searching and fixing I went and located the cause of all the multiple programs being run... C:\Windows\system32\iftuyszv.exe.
I dragged and dropped the bastard program into my desktop and renamed it to hopefully screwing up its next commands. Still can't delete it though since it and its being run and the task manager was still down.
Restarted the computer (still in Safe Mode)
Deleted iftuyszv.exe... well, what ever new name I gave it.
The task manager was still down so you then "Run" regedit.exe (Windows-Run)
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Deleted the variable DisableTaskMgr

I restarted the computer and I was able to run things again. The only thing is that there still seemed to be a few extra items still stuck in the computer that slowed it down but with access to the Task Manager again, things are a bit easier to finish debugging and I can then use other programs that are slower but can maybe dig deeper and fully delete the damage.

Is College Worth the Money?

Back in March of 2007, U.S. News created a headliner that I was waiting for a while to see. The topic, Is College Worth It? In it, they finally questioned the multi thousands of dollars it takes to get a degree in a shaky and simply pathetic job market. (This post might upset many parents and generation X'ers but the question had to be asked and as of this posting date...it must be addressed even more with the state of the economy.)

College many years ago was originally meant to serve as an extra curricular in life's path. It was for people who wanted to become scholarly and to help progress the movement of human knowledge, science and technology. The same holds true today with many colleges doing just that but their M.O. sure has changed. From Kindergarten to 12th Grade, kids are wired with the fantasy that in order to be successful in life, they need to know what "job" they need to get and they need to work hard for college to get that job.
Frankly, colleges today and the whole school system is nothing but a factory for cubical slaves and dynamically changing resumes. Many kids are driven into the notion that if they go through college, they will get the so-called "good-job" and make tons more money than their non-graduated class-mates. Granted many people who don't go to college usually set for low-end jobs that barely go over $30K a year while the graduates will make it to a job paying $60K-150K a year, whether that job will last in today's market is another story but lets give them the benefit of the doubt.
This looks very good for college if you only take that info into notion, which many kids are cornered into believing, hence they feel that their $60K investment for $60K a year or more is really worth it.

Lets look though at the riches people in the world; Bill Gates, Michale Dell, Donald Trump, Warren Buffet, etc. They must have triple Ph D's based on what college teaches, right? Wrong! Most of the richest, most successful people in the world never went to or graduated college and not one of them has a job! The thing is the topic that is not really mentioned at all in school is being in business for yourself. Kids in school are taught that you can make it in a business but its more of a lottery chance of winning in that field, or so they say.
What about business colleges? Usually business ownership is not mentioned all too much there, too. Most of the time business majors fall into the trap of becoming business "managers" FOR a company, but never the actual OWNER of the company.

One thing you are taught in business school or just by simple common sense that doesn't require a degree, is the topic of ROI (Return On Investment). With today's job market the ROI is not in college's favor at all. Why pay $60K and 4+ years of school work to get a degree, get a job and then watch that job fall no matter your position? No business owner in their right mind would dare such a risky investment. It's simply not worth it! But... if you do good in school and get lots of scholarships, college would be a great choice still because of the networking potential for your own eventual company and the lessened financial stress. It would then let you start off in a much better place than others but please don't sell out to a job.

Working for someone is extremely limited and many young kids and teens see the stresses having a job has done to their families. The internet has made it much easier to run your own company while at work. Also, if you are a business owner making $500K a year and with time to spare the difference between a ditch digger making $30K a year and a computer consultant making $80k/year is 3 weeks pay!

I'll use my example:
I graduated college as a Computer Science major in New York. I upgraded my job from an ice cream scooper at Friendly's to a programmer and web master at a large photography outlet (would have been a big company in the city but those positions where outsourced to India while in college.)

On Long Island, a $40K salary won't even get you out of your birth house. As of today I run an anime and video game business and in one week's time I make 2x-3x my job's income a week in only two days work, not 40 hours with 10 hours wasting expensive gas with the rest of the masses. I also work with a ::gasp:: network marketing company that will eventually build more residuals than even my conventional business will. Did it take a college degree to do these business venture?...nope. My anime website turned business was originally made in my 12th grade web design class I took to pass the time since I was technically already graduated at the end of 11th grade. My job and my businesses don't even deal with a single thing I was taught in college. So to be blunt, college was a money-trap scam... for me.

Why isn't this talked about much, why is it taboo?
There are a few reasons.

First reason is that college professors can't teach what they don't know. Ever heard the statement 'A' students teach 'B' students who work for 'C' students.? Sad but it's mostly true. College professors for the most part teach out of theory and not experience. Yes, some were in the field but they most likely are not anymore and they used teaching as a fall-back. They don't know how to be successful (financially- and-time-for-their-family-speaking) so how in the world could they teach us?

Second reason this isn't mentioned. Well, how do you think many schools are payed (outside of tuition)...state and federal grants from tax payers. Who pays the most to Uncle Scam...I mean Sam? Employees do. Yes, a business owner will pay tons in taxes too, but the US constitution has benefits for people who run their own company. Why?, it creates jobs and is the only way to restore any economy. People who don't understand it call them "loopholes" for the rich but any person in the US can access them, rich or poor. Letting out such knowledge in high school and college will lower their pay both from taxes and tuition from all the entrepreneurs bailing out of the college scene for a better chance at life.

Third reason is that it unfortunately has become a status symbol for parents to have their kids in college. They love to brag to their friends and their neighbors about their kids like they do their highly pesticided lawn. This has caused a generation or two of parents who force their kids into a college degree that really isn't in the best interest of the kids. Observe the multitude of students attending Suffolk Community College near my house with Liberal Arts majors and you'll see this in action. Yes, its great to brag about Jeff's wonderful degree he got in law but he sells insurance during the day and bar tends at night to hopefully pay the college debt.

As a parent, I'd be upset they wasted their time and money. When my father left his job to run his own automotive business from home, his family was shocked and asked him stupid questions like "You should have a job and make some real money." or, "Is it legal what you are doing?" His parents lost their bragging rights to the neighbors but my father was able to run a business from home that he could support a stay-at-home wife with 8 kids and no mortgage...on Long Island! Those are worthy of bragging rights!

Basically you all have gotten my views on college and hopefully people will start to see the obvious that they are being doped into a failed system which hopefully will let colleges just be their for the betterment of humanity and not cubical factories!

Hi everyone,

Yes another site and another blog. This one is for me to ramble about events and topics related and not related to otaku items. On top of talking about topics regarding anime, videogames, japan and tech gadgets; I'll also talk about current events, the economy, health and more. Hope you enjoy and participate by leaving comments. Like many bloggers, I might not talk in a politically correct way. I hope not to offend anyone but I am entitled to my opinion and experiences...and same for you.
